One of the most important parts of learning how to shoot a bow and arrow is understanding how to properly hold the bow. holding the bow correctly is the first element of shooting it accurately. In this post, we’ll explain the basics of how to hold a bow for archery beginners.

Grip the Bow with your non dominant hand

The first step is to grip the bow with your non-dominant hand. To grip the bow, place your hand in the middle of the bow and wrap your fingers around the grip. Be sure not to grip the bow too tightly; you should be able to slide your fingers along the bow easily.

Place Your Dominant Hand on the String

The next step is to place your dominant hand on the string. Again, be sure not to grip too tightly. You’ll want to place your index finger above the arrow and your middle and ring fingers below it. Your pinky finger and thumb should be tucked underneath the string as well. the string should press against the inside of your first joint on these three fingers. a finger bit or glove can be used to distribute the pressure across a broader area of your fingers.

Once you’ve familiarized yourself with the bow, learn the steps to firing a bow.
